Have you ever heard that liquid measuring cups are slightly different than dry measuring cups? So if you use a dry measure cup to measure out oil or something in a recipe it's not as accurate?.....WRONG!! They are exactly the same...I mean a cup is a cup....

How To Defrost Bread

Since this is the title of our site and the whole reason we started this little venture, we better at least answer the question! Well here it is....drum roll please....

1. Let it sit out at room temp and thaw.

2. If sliced, put slices in the toaster or in the oven on broil is you need more than a few slices.

3. Put the whole loaf in the oven for crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, bread.

* avoid the microwave...it makes it "stale-like" after it cools off.

Voila!...thawed bread! Pheww...that was hard lol ;)

What (else) not to clean hardwood floors with - submitted by a H2DFB community member

I learned the very hard way (literally), that you should NOT clean hardwood floors with Pledge (or any other wood cleaner). Shockingly, it makes the floors super slippery and a little dangerous. Who knew?!?!? Me, my family & 2 dogs now. That's who. Thanks for the Dial tip.

What NOT to mop the floor (tile or any other surface) with...

Do NOT mop the floor with Dial (or any other brand) of hand soap! It leaves an icky film...save this job for PineSol...of course I found this out the hard way!...hey, it's anti-bacterial...if it's good enough for your hands...why not the floor?...yeah bad idea...

Want to lower the calorie/fat content in some of your favorite baked goods??

Substitute oil with applesauce!...I know it sounds odd but it works great! Especially in breads/cakes...try it with banana bread...yum! (I may not know a lot about cooking, but I can bake!!) I will post some recipes soon!! Stay tuned...

Clean your stainless steel pans with white vinegar and baking soda...

Are your stainless steel pans discolored? Maybe you burned something in them and they have horrible black burn marks (yes another thing I learned the hard way). Scrub them with white vinegar and baking soda....use a little elbow grease and they will look as good as new!!

Always use distilled water in the iron.

Using regular water will leave little white mineral deposits on your dark shirts. Yes of course I learned this one the hard way!

Don't put your travel coffee mugs on the bottom rack of your dishwasher.

Even if your travel coffee mug says "dishwasher safe", never put it on the bottom rack of the dishwasher! Yep I melted my Starbucks mug!
